Looking for a quick way to turn leftover ham into something tasty? Try this delicious dish made in one pot in less than twenty minutes.
You know those little
ham and cheese stuffed party rolls with the mustard and poppy seed dressing that are so popular at holiday parties? If not, pop over to Pinterest and look them up. I first had them almost twenty years ago when a coworker brought them to an office party. Of course, we all begged for the recipe, it is that wonderful dressing that makes them so tasty. The name of the recipe was Ham and Cheese Party Rolls, hence the name Party Green Beans for this dish.
Rather than do the same old, same old with my leftover ham; I tried a scaled down version of that dressing, without the poppy seeds, added to green beans and ham. The dressing is a perfect match with the green beans, as well as the ham. They were gone in a flash, my husband and son raved. No question as to whether this dish received the green light to post! Just so you know, they have to give the thumbs up before a recipe makes its way to the blog for you to try.
This would make a great side dish for a party or a main dish for a busy weeknight. Add a baked or some roasted potatoes to the side and dinner is served!
Just a quick note. I did use unsalted butter since ham and Worcestershire sauce are salty on their own, at least for my tastes. I am very salt sensitive so I use very little salt in my cooking, if it isn't a problem for you feel free to use salted butter if that is what you have on hand.
Party Green Beans and Ham
1 Pound Frozen or Fresh Green Beans
1 and 1/2 Cup Chopped Ham
4 Tablespoons Unsalted Butter
1 Tablespoon Yellow Mustard
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
Add butter to saucepan on low heat, allow butter to melt. Turn heat to medium, add mustard and Worcestershire sauce. Heat together, stirring constantly, for two to three minutes. Add green beans and cook for fifteen minutes, stirring occasionally to coat green beans with sauce. Add chopped ham and warm through.

Great way to use the leftover ham, I have been making a version of this for a while, I just add sliced onions and potatoes until tender before adding the ham, I like the Worcestershire for additional flavor.ReplyDelete
